“Relaxing in a Great Location”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 3 July 2013 for a stay in June 2013
We stayed at Rattys for 6 nights (9-14 June) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The cottage was very well presented, cosy and warm that made so easy for us to relax as we had spent just on 4 weeks of constant travelling. Linda, the owner, provided lots of extras, including quality toiletries, fresh flowers, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee, a complementary bottle of wine, free wifi and a lot of information on walks and local attractions. The cottage was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. Although quite small, the kitchen was very functional; we cooked and ate in on 3 of the 6 nights. Quality furnishing, and linen were a feature and the bed was very comfortable.

On arrval we had some difficulty with accessing the key from the key safe. We phone Linda who drove to Rattys to sort out the problem, which turned out to be a wrong digit in the 4 digit access code. While we waited for Linda to arrive, John, the next door neighbour invited us in and made us a cup of tea. Many thanks to John.

Rattys is part of the Lower Farm Cottage complex with picturesque grounds and a branch of the Mill stream flowing through the lower garden area. It is in a lovely part of Blockley and is next door to eclectic Mill Dene Gardens, which is worth a visit.

Blockley is a wonderful location. It is a quaint hill top Cotswolds village that is off the main tourist map; we enjoyed our walks around the village and the local area. We also bought fresh bread rolls at the local village shop and had morning tea at the café. Blockley is a very lovely village.

Blockley is also handy to other Cotswold villages and towns. We visited Bouton-on-the-Water, Lower and Upper Slaughter, Chipping Campden and Morton-in-Marsh (for shopping) and Stratford-on-Avon (35 minutes from Blockley) to see a performance of As You Like It at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Staying at Rattys was a highlight of our 6 week holiday.

We've just returned from a 3 night break at Ratty's Retreat and found it to be an absolutely fabulous place to stay.
The cottage itself was beautifully laid out, cosy and warm, with some really thoughtful touches from the owner (lovely toiletries, beautiful bathrobes, a bottle of wine(shame we don't drink!) and a folder containing loads and loads of walks in the area as well as tons of other information about the area). There's also a payphone in the cottage as there's no mobile reception in the area.
The grounds are a delight to wander and our own little patio was quite a suntrap and a great place to sit and watch the various birdlife - my favourite bit though was going outside to listen to the owls at night!.
Blockley itself is a really lovely village, uncommercialised, friendly and with loads of walks straight from the cottage.
We hope to visit again, as soon as we can and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful holiday. Next time will definitely be for longer though.

My wife and I spent a long weekend at Ratty's: it was fabulous! We enjoyed the quiet country village atmosphere and the very attractive grounds of Ratty's itself, with its bubbling stream. We also found a very nice, inexpensuive restaurant just down the road and had a splendid meal.
